Just to clarify, the SM heads are designed in Austraila, cast in China, machined and assembled in California. You can call them, they will answer questions and you can order over the phone or online. They are not made by Pro Comp as some have said.

Procomp electronics and speedmaster have many of the same part numbers and same company address.
Why wouldn’t a copy of something known to work, not work? Depends on how well it was copied. I’d say SM did a decent job copying. But let’s not give them more credit than they have due. |

Edelbrock actually changed a lot. Valve location, port size, port shape, outer casting appearance, to list a few. SM pretty much just copied Edelbrock.

I purchased a set of SpeedMaster78 PCE281.2168 . Flat tappet Hyd. They have been fine. I have had no issues in the year since a put them on. I made no modifacations. They are on a 461 cid Pontiac Eagle rotating assembly. 10.2:1 with 1.65:1 roller rockers. That gives .528 lift with 13/32" ram air pushrods and 7/16" studs. Also had to change head bolts and go to round port headers. This motor just run great. I use a 1/2 a bottle octane booster every tankful. I don't know what the actual horsepower is but you hardly need the gas pedal!

OK, maybe I am wrong about the association between Pro Comp and Speedmaster
