Years Ago Butler was having Moldex grind up from Kellogg Crank Billets THREE of those crankshafts a month. That was when people wanted 4.5 stroke, billet cranks that fit into factory 455 SD type blocks.
A good price for the crankshaft today. Tom V.

That is a smoking deal for a Moldex billet crankshaft in today's market. Less than 1/2 price actually. I would strongly recommend 5 billet main caps and a very light rotating assembly if used in a stock block.

That’s what I thought, Mike.

I think some of the Indian Adventures blocks were delivered with 3.25" mains. That would make a nice engine. Also a stock block 455 would be fine IMO with aluminum rods and light pistons. Probably want to keep the piston speed down a bit with that long stroke and high bearing speed. Properly built, it would be fine around 6500 RPM's. Tons of torque. Love to have that in a heavy street car.

I'm amused. Would one be able to cut the mains to 3.00 and fit to a 400 block? I'm not well versed on strokers.

I have one of those P Dude billets in my 500" IA motor. 25 dyno pulls and a number of hard 1/4 miles. 4.21 stroke Pontiac rod journals and 3' mains. . I have another 4' stroke planning on using too. That was before we had all the forged options. Specs were right on vs some of the early forged ones that needed to be turned due to taper-lokemy 409's eagle stroker crank.

unless you meant probably want to keep the piston/rod weight down, with that high piston speed/bearing rubbing speed. |

So, is the consensus that this crank is a Chinese forged unit sold by P Dude back in the day? Possibly finished by Moldex.

I think if someone was really interested in buying it, they would need to have a conversation with the seller about all the particulars and the history of the crankshaft. If I remember right, the Moldex cranks I have purchased from them had a job number on them and some other info stamped on a counterweight. Also, My Moldex crankshafts said 4 1/2 instead of 4.500 on them. But they certainly could have changed that. The asking price is still OK for a Chinese billet but then you have to pay someone to go through an entire QC process before use. It would need to be magnafluxed, stroke checked, thrust dimensions verified, crankpins and mains verified for size and checked for straightness. I really doubt Moldex would attach their name to a Chinese crankshaft unless it was sent to them for repair or something like that. The ad says it's never been used or in a block but obviously a balancer had been fitted to the snout at some point. The snout is scarred up some where a balancer was installed.
