Haven’t really posted much lately because my non Pontiac has been getting my attention. Dropped the engine in my ‘62 Mercury this week after I pulled it for a rebuild. Should be able to break the cam in this weekend, but with the HFT failure rate these days I’m honestly a little nervous!

Well, I had always thought it was a 221 based on the casting codes. After I pulled the engine and inspected it, I found it to be a 260! I brought this issue with the codes up over on a Ford website, and the best explanation we can come up with is that it’s possibly a service replacement block.
