I have to repair my leaking Quadrajet so I pulled it off and replaced with another 7040263 that I have. This new carb came from Quadrajet Power. I bought it last year and it's setup for this motor. I adjusted the idle mixture screws Gets 16" vacuum at 775 rpm. Not bad. I don't have my new cap and rotor yet but, I put it back together with the damaged ones so I could get the carb setup and so I could see where the timing was set so when I put in the new parts I know where to start. UPS will be here with the new parts later today so I'll do that tomorrow. Then I'll be back in business.

That's awesome. My carb from them should be here end of summer. Getting a 76 stick carb to replace the original Odd ball 75 q jet. Saving original for next owner.

I have to issue a correction. I didn't realize how much my idle speed changed when I adjusted the mixture screws. I had it at 775 rpm, after the idle mixture was adjusted, the vacuum did go up to 16", but the idle speed also went up to 1000 rpm. When I decreased the curb idle to 800 it went down to 15". Still pretty good.
