Yes.. 389. I fat fingered. It is a 389 for sure as casting number is 9778789 and believe it to be bored to 400 as I stuck bore scope in cylinder and could make out std. and see crosshatch on the cylinder walls. Has 670 heads. I pulled a vacuum when it had the 4 barrel on it and was about 13 in. Not a real aggressive cam but you definitely can tell there is something there for sure. Someone put 3.08 gears in the rear with a close ratio Muncie M21 and that was terrible. It felt like you were taking off in 2nd gear. I replaced tranny with a M22Z with a 2.98 1st gear and all is nice now. I was just maybe hoping maybe someone may have seen this car back east around Ohio or Michigan or maybe know the person who had owned it. The dealer was very vague on any info. about the car. I'm not crazy about the 2 tone but others seem to like it. I traded of a very sweet Model A coupe and some cash for the GTO. The Model A was just too tight for 2 people and long trips.

Others?? IMO, you can't go wrong spraying the
top half straight black - the car would then have
a universal appeal. And your enjoyment matters
far more than the Chip Foose crowd.

I kind of agree with you. I am old school at 73. Thing is I would end up repainting the whole car. Being it is a 2 stage paint job. Then there is the cost of material. I use PPG and the last time I priced a gallon of clear it was over $600.00 and that was over a year ago. I do all of my own work including paint and body but at my age I just want to drive them.
