When I was 20 years old and my GTO was a daily driver, on really hot days ... I'd just put it in neutral when I came to a stop, usually the extra 200 rpm or so was enough to keep it cool with the AC on.

And, if an automatic transmission, helps by not loading the convertor which builds heat.
