I have done this with success, they key for me was the torque converter. It had to be loose enough that I didn't have to fight pumping brakes and perfect the line pressure when staging. It was a mild sportsman car that ran low 8's in the 1/8th. Once we got the converter in a happy place, I could roll in and stab the brake pedal one time, and set the line lock, and with the chip way down, it would never creep or roll. This is nice when the track is on autostart so you don;t have to sit there and build brake pressure to get the car to hold. I've actually wired in a delay box to this setup to do some top bulb stuff too which is interesting.
