We have this stuff at work like cosmoline. Made by CRC called SP-400. Its corrosion inhibitor and does work. We spray it on shafts, sprockets that come out of the machine shop and stored for future use.
But taking it off is a pain. Use Scotts Brite pads and PB Blaster.
I would no use it on engine parts.
