Here's the process of what I had to do to change the 14" Magnaflow muffers out for the 20" Dynamax Super Turbo mufflers:

I cut the old mufflers out pipes. I then cut off the hanger rods and welding them to the new mufflers. I also had to cut off the new muffler's rear 2.5" ID pipe stubs and weld on 2.5" OD stubs in order for them to connect to the Magnaflow tailpipes.



Used a little trial and error to make sure I cut out the correct length out of the exhaust pipes between the X and the mufflers. I then did a mock-up using clamps to make sure it was perfect. Even put the tailpipes back on to make sure I didn't change anything there. Once I was satified, I tack welded the joints.





Welded up, ground the welds flush and painted all the welded areas.





Back on the car and done. Came out great. Quite a bit of work. Spread it out over 3 days.







Actually got a little sore doing this work. Felt good to get back into car working shape!

Wow, that looks like you really got a lot done in 3 days and it looks extremely solid. Nicely done, as was the car!

That is kind of demoralizing for us under-achievers. I had no idea it would take all that work to make a "commercial" exhaust system fit. Sometimes it's better for me to be naive!

Yeah, installing an exhaust system yourself is a lot of work. I give the Magnaflow exhaust kit high marks for the design though. Btw, the kit didn't come with downpipes. They are from Pypes. The Magnaflow kit is designed to all clamp together with band clamps that they provide you but I prefer to weld all the joints except for the tailpipes. Someone more anal than me would use a tig and stainless rod though. Since I used a mig and steel wire, I had to paint the welds to keep them from rusting.

Started the car yesterday and took a couple of short videos. I was going to take the car for a spin but in prep for that I aired up the tires and checked the air in the air bags and one of them isn't holding air. I didn't have time to investigate that.

Very happy. Much more quiet now and no evidence of drone with these Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. Sill a good rumble at the back of the car at idle. The second video is inside with the doors closed and windows up.

I'm curious if the Magnaflow had that or a similar muffler as an option when you ordered it?

Just clicking around, it appears Pypes will configure a "kit" with multiple muffler options.

Does anyone sell a "kit" with those same Dynomax 20" mufflers?
