I reached out to Butler for a cam recommendation on my potential build. It’s a 455 with TRW/Sealed Power flat tops, 7K3 heads with exhaust manifolds & 2.5” exhaust. The car is a ‘72 GTO with an M20 & 3:23 rear gear, basic street cruiser, no race, blah blah blah. They came back with a recommendation on the Butler with 112 lobe separation. Obviously they don’t know anything about running this lifter set up & I’d have to make sure with measurements that it will work but what’s everyone think of the cam recommendation? I’m not sure I have enough compression to run it but Butler said no problem.

I know of an engine that was ran with those profiles and the 2148 style lifters in a 455. Probably has commented on this thread somewhere, it was Murf. I don’t recall if his was an “S” or a “B”.

Thanks for the update on the Ford spider for the guys that want to use that approach instead of the bolt in system.

That being said, I have several sets of the dog bones left.

I also have 2 sets of USA made sealed power HT2148 lifters for sale to complete the “kit”

Still have one last set!

Will not be making more without preorders of at least 10 sets. The pricing has skyrocketed on the materials.

After this last set finds a home I will start a list and if when I get 10 preorders I’ll move forward with making another batch. At current prices they will be an additional $70 +/- $10 a set.

Big thanks to all that have purchased and are running them now.

That’s 146 sets not including the 4 sets I have set aside for me out there!

On to the next big idea!

This has been quite a thread so far and have been taking it all in, making notes, copying, etc
Am a bit of a 'late bloomer' as far as interest in hyd roller sets ups for the street.
So, with that said, am curious what anyone thinks so far of using a hyd roller on a street car?
some questions-

1 has anyone put any real miles say, 10,000-20,000 or more on any of these set ups in their Poncho?
2 what problems have you had (if any)?
3 what would like to see done differently, what parts may be needed?
4 any strip or autocrossing, road racing time with these hydral set ups?

Let's evaluate together, what has been done so far, what may need to be changed or improved, etc. for the benefit of everyone.

Brief machine shop update on my goings on. XR288HR cam on a 114* LSA checks out on the base circle and has been confirmed by my shop so I will be proceeding with the HT2148 retrofit. The block is a post 1970 455 with no dog bone clearancing needed. I will provide updates as the process continues.

I also find it strange that no one on PY is commenting on running a 2148 lifter with all the restraint systems sold here?

I have about the same specs in my 70 TA. Please let me know how this cam works out for you.
