Yeah that seems rather pricey for a set of shoes, pair of wheel cylinders & a hardware kit... they must be some special compound & special wheel cylinders.

Would think the bigger 11" OEM drum set up would stop almost as good for a lot less $$??

I looked for the 11" conversion kit but it does not appear that anyone still sells them. Is this something I can piece together?

I looked around myself for a kit for my 1974 Grand Prix - they are no longer out there. What you need to find is the 11" set up from a 1976 or 1977 A-Body. Most of the parts are available individually, no longer available are the Parking Brake Lever and Parking Brake Strut. Some places still have GM backing plates for one side and I have seen aftermarket sets of backing plates (unknown quality).

I was looking for some other parts in totes in my shop the other day and found I had saved the backing plates from a 1977 Monte Carlo with the complete brake assembly still attached - I got them 30 years ago to put on a 1973 Cutlass I ended up getting rid of for lack of available body parts. My set of the 1977 still had the Parking Brake Lever (with the cable cut) and the Parking Brake Strut still attached! Wheel cylinders, spring kits are available through any parts store, drums become an issue because there were two different ones with the 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern and they both fit, one is a heavy duty drum which are getting harder to find - they are slightly wider with better cooling fins - these are the drums that came on the 1977 MC so I searched to find them. AC Delco 18B28 or Raybestos 2087R. Hope this helps!
