They should fit tight to the sheet metal without anything holding them down.

Hey goatracer, thanks for the reply, i got the two of them on, but it seems they are really close to the top of the windshield, seems like they should bend a little on the top, i messed around a little today , not sure i can get the trim behind the two new tabs...........was wondering if i squeeze the clips with my windshield tool will they bend a little and then i can push the trim on...............dont want to go caveman on the stuff beating it on like i see on some vids..........

Ok, heres where im at today, put the clips i got from ames on, there is no way i can get the trim to fit, the clip is tight against the body, very hard to get them on the stud, have to hit with a hammer to fit on the stud. My old ones go on by hand easy but i only have 6 of them, two clips were missing when i took the trim off, not to happy losing paint putting these clips on and off. The old ones seem bent forward while on the stud, on the new ones there is no way possible to push the trim on. Anyone have a different clip to buy, the ones from ames are 3/4 wide by 5/8 high.........took some pics with the phone, hopefully they come out ok,

Also i have 15 of these plastic clips on the trim, do i need these, seems the stuff is touching the glass anyways. The sides and bottom all fit good, the top is bad.

In case anyone is following this, i got one of the clips from ames to work today, in the 3rd pic above you have to bend the clip that goes on the stud back quite a bit, so far i got that one to work, broke about 3 others trying this, seems you have to bend them while on the stud, little nervous doing this, worried about breaking the stud.

So is this the way you guys are getting these clips to fit, or is there a better way to do this.
