Happy to hear your update, and that you are driving it frequently.
![]() Is your radio a factory setup? If it was already cut for a single DIN, I love my BOSS BCPA-8. It has a floating/detachable 8" touchscreen, and all of the modern entertainment doo-dads and navigation. Not everybody is into that type of departure from classic/original, but I am. My dash had already been enlarged for a single DIN by previous owner, so I had no problem using what was already done.

Here’s how I set up the stereo in the 71 GTO. I put an 1/8” thick aluminum plate above the glove box liner. Drilled and tapped a couple of holes and sandwiched the liner between the radio mount and the plate. I have a bunch of music on a USB zip drive and I can control what I’m listening to, radio volume, phone calls all with my phone. Works really well.
Also, the stock radio was mia so picked up a factory radio to fill the hole. Ended up gutting out the radio but kept the front face, radio light, etc so it looks correct. It’s amazing how much the amplifiers and stuff weighs inside those factory radios lol..

I literally just bought yesterday one of those add on Apple CarPlay screens that you can broadcast an FM signal that your radio picks up. It’s awesome the only problem is it plugs into the cigarette lighter so there’s that wire going across the dash…but I do have car play now so that’s really nice. I have 4 6x9s in the car. Two 5 ways in the front vents and two 3 ways in the back package tray with a 1000 watt pioneer amp in the trunk so I’m good for now I just wish I could hide those wires better. The car runs like a raped ape. I’m really pleased. I have almost 6000 miles on it now. My biggest noninterior related repair it needs is to chase down the little leaks.

You might look into having an Aurora Design conversion done on a factory radio. I had Gary Tayman do one for my Burban some 58k miles ago. Works great. You can do an Aux imput, USB, and/or Bluetooth, and AM, FM of course.

Bummer! Yours is the first failure I've heard of. I didn't get Bluetooth on mine as I have nothing to connect to it.
