Best answer I have off the top of my head and with a little searching. note that I have never owned a 1st gen, but in my younger day, I was pretty "up" on this stuff. Take that FWIW. The important thing to bear in mind is that the clear wheel *may* be correct for the car (at least it should have been available, and not like transplanting my clear wheel from my '63 Bonneville - LOL).

Thanks for the reply, I did not mean to imply that the 1/2 clear wheel was not correct for this car, the interior looks just like my car except for the steering wheel. I know there has been some discussion about 1/2 clear in the past, but I don't remember if it was an option, or a build date difference.

74 Firebird Formula 400 4-speed with Ram Air at $40K BIN in Florida. This one has made the rounds and I've seen it before, but it's a damn nice car. Let's do math. Starting BIN at $40K. How much for that interior? It has 80K miles on it, so not sure if it's all original, but it's damn nice. Assume you started with a plain Jane 74 Firebird that needed an interior and paint. How much would it cost starting with a project, to get the interior this nice? Note that even the headliner is nice. I'll say conservatively $7K. How much for that paint job? Yumpin' Yeliminni it's sharp. Starting with a project car to that paint job has got to cost at least $15K on the low side IMO. Adding $15K and $7K, we're at $22K for the interior and paint. $40K BIN - $22K is $18K. Now factor in all these huge pluses : 4-speed, subframe is spotless with new exhaust etc., prolly not original, but it does have Ram Air. Add all that up, and this car is a screaming deal. JMHO.

70 GTO Judge 4-speed clone in Florida at $10K with a reserve. This is a real GTO, but it's got every do-dad widget that could possibly come on this car, including hood pins, a black hood tach on a white car, wing, air dam, Moroso valve covers, poser RA IV hood stickers, chrome air cleaner, and other stuff. I'm bagging hard on this car and I realize that, but 70 GTO's are my favorite. My only hope is if someone is considering going to choose this clone route with a real GTO, a real GTO is cooler IMO. Not the same for a 70 Lemans, and that "clone" is a clone of both a real GTO and a "RAM AIR IV" Judge. You could take this car back to stock easily. The interior is nice and it is a real GTO 4-speed. It's been listed 5 times prior, asking BIN of $50K. The other three auctions ended with a reserve not met at a high bid of $21K. If you score this car in the <$35K range, you'd be doing well IMO. It is a nice car.

67 Firebird in Illinois at $52K BIN. Claims it was a frame off and the undercarriage looks like it. Camaroish stripes take away, and that abomination of a gauge cluster has carbon fiber in an otherwise stock interior. 455 and a 5-speed are cool. Way overpriced.

The 67 Bird is a beauty for sure . I loathe seeing Pontiac Historical Society in an ad. I also see the seller incorrectly calling it a Formula 400. This is also a common faux pas for non Pontiac sellers. It is a beautiful car in a stunning color combo and it doesn’t have the Buick air cleaner decal , so overall a solid 1st gen 400 car. I think the asking price is reasonable for what it is

Decent looking car but Canadian cars have two major handicaps in the market: first is that most Canadian cars rotted out since just about the whole country is in the salt belt. Second problem is that the border spooks many US buyers. Some of this is a legit concern and some is imaginary. The Canadian government has some stupid rules about exporting classic cars that can delay things and have some fees involved. Shipping costs and availability-delays are also an issue. Importing our cars (GTO’s and Firebirds etc) is usually quite easy and so long as the car was built in the US (all GTO’s except a small number of 70 and 73 GTO’s sold in Canada new were built in the US) there is no tax or duty to pay entering the US. (Except a small processing fee I believe. If the car was built in Canada it may be subject to significant duties (some debate about if this is actually being applied to antique cars or not).

If I had to guess I’d say that most classic cars being sold out of Canada face a 20% or so haircut. The percentage is higher the lower the value and really desirable and valuable cars may be the exception if they are wanted bad enough.

I’d say this trend to lower prices for Canadian cars is growing as Canada has become poorer and poorer relative to the US in recent years. In a generation (especially the last ten years) the average Canadian income has fallen from near parity with Americans to 60%. Furthermore a median income earning Canadian have seen his tax bill rise from 30% to 45% of their income in the same period. Lastly housing costs in Canada have gone crazy thanks to the highest mass migration rates in the world for years now. These three factors have crippled the middle class in Canada and it is the middle class that drives our hobby.

I have a retired friend who sells classic cars in Canada, he tells me that the vast majority of cars worth more than say $20k go to the US or Europe because there are so few buyers left domestically.

Could be a nice car but I never liked dog dish on 68-69 GTO’s. Just doesn’t look right. Part of the issue is black walls , you couldn’t get black wall tires on any GTO until the 69 judge came along. The four wheel drive look ain’t helping it either.

Mad knowledge here. The real interesting cars are the Pontiac Chevelles, at least to me. Not sure how many 69 Trans AM's made it to Canada, but I assume they're worth a little less than a cars sold in the US.
