Default How to reply to visitor messages

I have two visitor messages I would like to reply to, but need help. Can someone explain to me how to do this?

I would not reply using the visitor messaging, reply using a private message.

Just click on their username and use a PM, I don’t get why people use visitor messaging. Maybe it’s because they don’t understand the messaging systems here, personally I don’t want others reading my messages other than the person they’re sent to.
