I played original FireBall machines in 1972 with the flippers that opened and closed the gap between them. I think it was the first of its kind like that I can remember.
And probably first multi-ball machine I can remember.

Before that , some had a stob that popped up between the flippers.
"Fiend" by either Gottlieb or Williams was another favorite.
I liked games that had potential skill shots for free games.

The old analog games , we found out if we gave the machine a big yank or slide when it was doing the "match" at the end of game for a complimentary bonus game - the credit wheel would roll up to anywhere between 15-99 credits - if one of us matched.

We had a hustle on about every machine at the laundry mat.

Gumball machine almost endless big gumballs for 5cents
Lance snack machines multiple of same snack for a dime.
