If you have a registered main, then it's needed as the oil pan is further out. I usually I just double up on the timing cover area.

I thought all IA2 had registered mains requiring the spacer and longer oil pump drive? And the KRE block is doweled like the original Pontiac block requiring no special parts?

i thought so too, but from what i read the earlier versions were doweled. then it looks like it changed to registered only....but i think it may have changed to dowel and registered....atleast on the aluminun....ill have to pull a cap on my new iron block and check if its got both. |
