I'm looking for a "decent" example of any model 65-66 full size but prefer 2-door. I've had a 66 Catalina for 35 years that was running and driving until a couple of months ago when I took it out of service to do a motor swap. Recently it sustained terminal body damage while in the garage so I need a replacement that can accommodate my collection of parts and upgrades.
I hope to find a straight body. Paint condition and surface rust are not a problem for me, but I would like a solid frame, floors, and trunk. It needs to be a rolling chassis but it doesn't matter what the wheels and tires are. I don't require an engine or transmission.
Proximity to the Piedmont Triad area of NC would make everything a lot easier but we can discuss transport options if necessary.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I own a 1966 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham 4 door hardtop in excellent, unmolested condition. Rust free and beautiful Nightwatch Blue paint which looks original (but can’t be). No body damage at all. Fully loaded (power windows/vents/locks/bench seat/antenna/trunk) ATC, 8 lugs, cruise, AM/FM, tach, factory long branch exhaust manifolds, Safe-T- Track differential, original near-perfect black vinyl top, etc. YC code 398 CI engine with fully restored Rochester 4MV divorced choke carb # 7029268. Extremely low mileage Black Diamond HR78 14 1 inch ww tires. PHS documentation available. Car is running and has clear title.

The car will be for sale one day but not today……..but I could be tempted. When it does go on the market I will be asking $30k. If you have potential interest and would like more info/documentation/photos, PM me your email address. Car is located roughly between Houston and Austin Texas.

That's definitely a fantastic car but unfortunately a couple notches up from the market I'm shopping in. Thanks for the response. I wish I was looking for a car that nice. Hopefully you'll find an appreciative buyer when the time comes.

So please forgive any faux pas that might be made.. when perusing the sites I saw your want to buy ad a few days ago and wonder if I might actually have a very good fit for your needs. However I did notice you were trying to be specific to an area around North Carolina and I am actually in Sacramento California. However I have shipping resources and have made some inquiries before posting this. The results of which I'd be happy to share with you on a PM if you wish to further the conversation after reviewing an ad I posted on Craigslist Sacramento approximately a week ago for the car as described above. Another long shot out west. On Reno, Nevada craigslist is a 1965 2+2 that has no motor or trans and looks a little rough but is priced right accordingly. Located in Truckee, California which is just over the state line from Nevada. Just thought I would mention this in case you may have some interest. List under cars for sale, Reno craigslist.

Thanks to everyone for the input, but I've got the replacement agreement made. Some other obstacles are delaying the actual physical transfer but that will happen soon enough. To satisfy the curious I'll summarize how my car got wrecked. My car was parked in the garage, front end up on jackstands because I had recently run a strap under the bellhousing so I could pull the motor while leaving the transmission in place. The garage door was closed and outside the garage was parked the family minivan. A family member was pulling into the driveway behind the minivan and had an apparent pedal confusion incident. Instead of stopping, they ran into the back of the minivan, pushed the minivan through the garage door, pushed the minivan into the back of my Catalina, and pushed the Catalina into the workbench at the end of the garage. One side of the Catalina actually stayed on the jackstand. There are 3 feet long scratch marks in the garage floor from the jackstand scraping along. Anyway, damage to the rear bumper and body, and heavy damage to the driver's side front fender and bumper. Hard to be sure, but the core support is probably not right anymore. Also I built that workbench myself when we first moved into the house 24 years ago. 2 of the 3 front legs of the workbench were caved in but the work top didn't fall. I was proud of that. So that's the story.
