that looks great!!! I have those grills too just never did the hood although I wanted to.
The 04 is just like the 64, plain Jane but with punch. Not sure why others couldn't get that. Plus it was a rush to market car for the USA

May have finally solved a hot start issue that was driving me daffy. The motor would turn fine but would not catch when hot. After a bit it would start. Redid grounds to engine, all that.
A friend with a good PCM reader scanned the car, almost nothing but oil pressure faults (?). I have the stock gauges running so have a sender that notes pressure is fine. Then it occured to me that if the oil pressure signal to the PCM was low - it would not allow the engine to fire. If the sender was intermittently faulty when warm... So I looked at rockauto to see if anything over here would work - 2022-2023 MBG-GT would. A replacement was ordered (65€ - ouch!) and installed. A trip known to have this issue was driven and no more problems. Evidently the original sender was crap right out of the box - a depressingly common issue now. The new switch looks more "correct" - note the plug lock is actually there... Last edited by Scarebird; 06-18-2026 at 07:01 AM. |

This didnt happen today... finished up on it Sunday. Its been an ongoing winter project that spun a little out of control. Pleased with the results tho. I had the Quadrajet rebuilt after the Christmas holiday on my 70 Formula 400. Once I got it back I knew I was gonna have to refurbish the rest of the engine bay to match how nice the carb looked. So... off we went. 4 months later, after rebuilding the original alternator, water pump, & power steering pump, Plus having the original radiator re-cored she's back together. Also replaced a pretty worn timing chain. I tried to return it to as close to stock as I could. It was pretty much stock when I started. Just 56yrs & 99K miles of dirt & grim caked all over. Its not quite ready to fire yet, & I want my son-in-law here for an extra hand in case we encounter any issues. He's out of town for vacation until next week, then I have a 4 day weekend for the 4th, so it'll probably wait til after that. Hopefully she's back pounding the pavement soon! The last picture is what the engine bay looked like when it was for sale(Oct/24) & what it looks like now.
