Maybe during that build time the union was fighting with management. The Freemont plant was famous for dropping a ball bearings in the bottom of a door to create a rattle so it will come back.
Whatever it is, looks like a bonehead move to me. What is the wear in the middle of the washer from ?

Dragn I don't know the torque converter nose has no damage or weird wear on it so I am confused as to why it was there at all ...... this engine is original right down to the plastic from the original timing gear teeth still in the pickup screen
