I put the 64 GP up on the lift again today for a set of stab links & bushings (squeaky one driving me crazy), also a rear trans seal & noticed there were NO nuts on the rear trans mount studs
Noticed one of my 8 lug wheels has a slight bend in it, but that will have to wait until after the Nats.Going to my 1st Cruise with it this afternoon, about 100 mile round trip....Really excited after 7 years! Hoping the "Slim Jim" trans gets better as I drive it. Right now it does not downshift anywhere close to soon enough, upshifts aren't too bad. Minor stuff - new antenna and radiator cap for the '68. The new cap construction is way better than the one that cracked so there must be a repops being made by at least two companies.
I also cleaned the garage out so I can fit both cars again. Surprisingly, the Javelin fits better than the T/A did.

A box came from California Pontiac Restoration today. Excitement!
You don’t know how handy a glove box is until you don’t have one! Plans are to start on the sway bar mount bushings tonight too. Ames out of stock on these.

Finally made it to the track last weekend, video shows I was spinning off the line. Still a fun day when I can drive home afterwards.

Nice!
You need a set of small slicks to throw on at the track and get some great ET's! Looks like 11.5x ET's possible.

Killed a little time before a local cruise night and snapped a couple pics of the LeMans. HOT weather this week!

John, I had brand new Hoosier 28x9s on for those runs. I pitted in grass and dirt, maybe they weren't clean enough after the burnout box

Constantly blown away by generosity in the Pontiac community.
I posted on my ‘55-56 Facebook site today, which I’ve found most excellent at sourcing parts, looking for the end piece of my gearshift lever. The black plastic/rubber barrel shaped piece is missing off mine. Someone said “good luck finding one”. Well a member messaged me a picture of one and told me he’d send me the piece, and refuses any payment! Thanks dude!

Went to a newer Cars-n-Coffee in Lisboa. A wide assortment of cars: old Datsuns, Wolseley, many Minis, R5's...
But I was startled to see a bone stock 1979 TA: loaded 403 Y car. Paint is excellent. Owner also has a 76 Dodge camper van and 86 Elky. |

Took the 55 to our diner today. Wind had shifted and got smokey outside again.
Im not saying that my 55 handles like a slot car, but definitely a noticeable difference putting the new sway bar bushings in. Clunk going around corners is obviously gone too. One nice thing is I had a low speed rattle up front that I could never track down. It sounded more like a loose bracket or guard. Well, thats gone now too! Must have been the sway bar.

Was actually over the weekend took my Stock 75 Formula to Norwalk and gently ran it down the track, ran a best of 17.17 which unfortunately was on a 17.80 dial in
Hardest part was launching with the 4-spd

DROVE IT!! 🤘
Fired the Formula for the first time, Sunday, after the engine bay resto. Just a couple small antifreeze leaks that ended up being stuff I left loose. Rebuilt Q-Jet seems to work nicely. Did an oil change this evening & a 5 mile trial run down the road & back. |
