1 - B
2 - D 3 - A 4 - C I would have loved a pic like 'D' with the car being 180º turned around. (front shot) Pic 'A' would be better if it was more frontal view and not slanted. Pic 'C' is too dark at least on my monitor to be of use. But the car is still great looking.

Critic'ing just because its for a calendar.
C looks pretty darn good if you crop it down to just the car . Or keep enlarging it on screen until its mostly just car. C and D would have both been better with Park Lamps burning. (software enhancement maybe ?) A and B could pass off as another standard Lucerne to most casual viewers. Would envision an upper higher angle 3/4 front side view that catches some of the interior appointments in the scope... as Really Capturing THIS Car . C or D - with maybe some software enhancing . |

These are all great comments. Thank you.
Sorry Judge273 and Superduty Bob and others with partial entries, I can't get them on the scorecard but comments are duly noted. I think it's interesting that you each have varying views on where the Goodyears should be clocked to finish the picture... One thought is the Goodyears upside down mirror the Goodyear on the building and complete the shot, the other the Goodyears should be clocked to the top to match the sign. I'm working on clocking the tires to the top as we speak. It's raining outside today so you know how I'm getting r done Things are tight between the profile shot and Tower shot.

You've got to learn not to stop into the 19th hole at the turn, but instead wait till the end of the round.

BTW, driving lights left on would have been a nice touch - always sets the car off properly.

I like C. 'Caught a bluebird last night' best.
I was wanting to get everyone's thoughts on their opinion of the pictures on the pictures own merits, but to be truthful, there is a specific requirement of the PPG calendar to shoot the car in it's local setting. Something or somewhere to add interest to the picture to include with the car itself. They specifically do not want dark sky or white box photos. So the ringer pic is 'The Tower shot' which anchors it here in San Antonio. It's a cool pic because it's the only one we took with the lens open so the trolley cars passing by (yellow and orange streaking lights) and other lights provide a colorful night shot. There is something serendipitous about the Tower of the Americas too since it was built in '68 for the World's Fair so it's a genre correct view as well, in my opinion. I agree with those who suggested the parking lights should be on. They were on most of the evening until it got late into the night. I wish the lights were were on for The tower shot. As far as which way facing, I have to admit the rear 3/4 view is my favorite look at these early second gen's so I am guilty of setting the car in this position. Owner preference I guess, like adding a rear spoiler to a formula (which I would do)! LOL. That's my 2 cents and I truly appreciate everyone's input on this homework assignment today!

The best look is the side lights and distinctive rear tail lights being seen, they are one of the best features of the 70-73 Birds. (nose is other one)

Where's the picture with smoke rolling off the tires? All this mamby, pamby stuff about parking lights, aperture and exposure settings, quarter or side view is OK, but it leaves me feeling empty. Adrian needs some Goodyear rubber on that PPG finish....
For what it's worth, I like 4 best and then 2. |
