The inlet is located under the air pan? Where can I get an inlet? Mine has melted. Does enough vacuum accumulate in there to open and close the flaps on the snorkels? Does anyone know how long the hoses should be? thanx

The switch is in the bottom of the air cleaner pan. Perf Years sells them and I'll bet they are available at a parts store near you. Do they work? I don't know if mine do or not and really don't care too much. My car always starts and runs smoothly when cold as it is, so I'm not one to mess with a good thing The hoses couldn't be over a foot long each.

I think the '69 and '70 are slightly different. One of them has a larger angle between the snorkles to accomodate the cruise control unit. Maybe OPH or someone can chime in ...

I am also wondering what years of dual snorkels are interchangeable? I have heard that 69 and 70 are the same but previous posts in this thread seem to disagree. I have also heard that all 68-72 dual snorkels are the same. Anyone know?

Where are the dents? Mine also had some dents in them and I was able to push all but one out using long Phillips screwdrivers. Similar to the way these dent removal guys do it to a car. The ends of my snorkles were fairly ratty also and I restored them by rounding them out again using the radius of my trusty Phillips screwdriver, a small hammer and a pair of smooth jawed pliers.

i do not believe that 69 and 70 are the same.

as mentioned earlier, the angles are different, as would the base over the carb.

i think, starting in 70 on at least the hi-po cars, the carb has a smoke stack like bowl vent, as opposed to the 69's which used the metal strip with a rubber gasket.

the smoke stack equipped cars had air cleaners with a hole for that to fit into.

the 71 and/or 72 may, may have had, an additional thermac switch poking out horizontally from the side. i cannot recall seeing one exactly, on a dual pan, but i have on the single jobs.

Percy's Pontiac usually has standard shrouds. There is one on Ebay right now that goes off in 21 hours.

As is so common, the snorkels on my air cleaner have numerous small dents in them. I noticed that the single snorkel air cleaner on a '72 Lemans [on ebay] pictured here:

looks to use the identicle snorkel as used on my dual snorkel unit. They maybe a good source for "donor" snorkels.

1969 and 1970 air cleaners are a little different, if you are picky. If you measure between the snorkel intakes you will see the difference.

One snorkel has numerous creases in it. I got most of them out with a small hammer and dolly. Maybe I'll try a thin coat of plastic filler and careful sanding to get it perfect. I too straightened out the radius of the ends of the snorkels.

Have you ever noticed that when you see an air cleaner like this on ebay, the seller almost never takes a close up picture of the snorkels? If I had a perfect one, I'd really show how nice it is with good close pictures.
