On my 77 TA the turn signals used to blink very slowly. I replaced the flasher in the fuse box (is this the only flasher?) and nothing changed. Now both have stopped working altogether (they stay lit in the dash). This car is new to me, so I assume the turn signal would flash the same bulbs as the brake lights? (which DO work). I also heard this might be caused by a ground problem.. Is there only one ground at the battery or are there other ones?

There are generally two flashers - one for the hazard lights and one for the turn signals. Do your hazards work correctly? If so, look up near the steering column and find the other flasher. Switch that one with the hazard flasher and see if your turn signals are fixed. If so, then replace the bad flasher so you'll still have your hazard lights when you need them.

There are many grounds in a car - the battery ground cable connects to the engine, the engine has a ground strap running to the body, the dash grounds through the bolds on each side that hold it to the sides of the car...

The Headlight/parking light wiring harness that runs to the front of the car also has two grounds at each corner of the core support. Look at the inside of the fender at the upper corner of the support and you'll see a small black wire, screwed into the metal. I'm pretty sure that the same would apply at the rear of the car, but I'm not sure.
