I am looking for a new cam for my 1974 455 with 6x heads, .30 over, 3.42 rear end, headers, harland sharp 1.50 roller rockers with crane anti pump up lifters. I just pulled out a summit 2802 with a bad lobe and I am looking for something I can drive on the street just cruising around preferably with some good low end torque and mid range. This car will not see the strip so I don't need to set it up for that. If anyone has any info or good experiences with some set ups please let me know. The last cam specs for the 2802 were Duration at .050 int-224 exh-234,( valve lift intake-465 exhaust-488)Advertised duration was 282 and 292. I have my eye on either a crane or competition cam.

No brainer... Comp XE274H. Similar to 041, parametrically speaking, better "manners" and low speed driving. Dump the used lifters. No need for anti-pumpup lifters in a Pontiac...

I'm sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but those Crane anti-pump up lifters are new right? I hope you are not going to attempt to reuse old lifters on a new cam.

What about XE 274 with Rhoads lifters??? Mr. P-body, i know you don“t like them with the XE grinds but can you tell me why? Believe it or not, i testdrove an 74 SD455 with this cam and Rhoads lifters - absolutely perfect manners with the automatic and a killer when you nailed the throttle...

My only experiences with Rhoads lifters have been less than satisfactory. I have no experience with them on XE cams. Vacuum signal and torque production are not an issue with those cams.
