I have just purchased a 1966 GTO with a mild cam and high performance heads. What type of octane booster do you all suggest? I was told about a lead additive that you can mix with your gas. Has anyone heard of this?Also, are the last four numbers on the serial number the actual production number for the vehicle? I was told that some of the first few Goats had the white shifter nob, and the rest had the black one. I am trying to determine which one my car may have come with. Thanks

So many questions and so little info.
Well, I can answer the gas one easy enough. Go and find the local Hot rod shop and buy the leaded High octane racing gas. I would put 5 gal in each tankfull. The lead will be more than enough. The main problem is valves receeding into the heads. The other problem is detonation! Without good gas the car will knock and beat the bearings the death! How about some more specs on the GTO? Auto? 4-speed, 389?Engine size and code? Heads and code? Rear gears? We need more to help. ------------------ Gatomon A car is cheaper than a girlfriend. Better than a wife. If it gives you trouble you can park it and forget about it!

Well, Your Transmission is not the correct one. GTO's come with a Munci 4-speed Transmission. One question answered.
