Just doing some research on the location of the rear rear GTO script on a 64 GTO ONLY .
1) your car must have the original quarters still on .Please Do Not particapate if you have changed or know they have been changed
2) measure the distance from the end of the script to the fender extention seam list left side and right side also from the top ridge line to the top of the letters
3)Build date of your car
4)Plant where your car was built

The reason is we have found these emblems not to be symetrical on Cars that are known to be orignal.Thaks for your Help. what we find out might be interesting .

L) 1 3/4 in to seam 6 in ridge to top of T R) 2 3/8 in to seam 6 in to top of T Build Date 4-23-64 P Mi

Don:

L) 1 3/4" to seam and 6" top of T to ridge
R) 2 3/8" to seam and 6" top of T to ridge

I'm not sure of build date. The numbers on the parking brake bracket is 4 6 4 (I think. It's hard to read.)

Pretty sure it's a Baltimore car.

Fourth digit is "F". Just realized that "F" means Freemont, CA. I guess there were two assembly lines messed up.

Hi Guys,

My '64 post is totally original & never restored (needs it though!) and fender badges are wrong as well.

LH 1 7/8" to seam, 6" to ridge.
RH 2 9/16" to seam, 6" to ridge.

For the measurements to seam I have taken distance from end of "G" on rhs & end of "O" on lhs as the end of the underline is missing from the lhs (never noticed before!). However, since the rhs badge is complete, the dimension from the end of the underline is 2 5/16" which ties in well with yours. Hopefully you can figure in a correction factor for my lhs?

Car built in Pontiac.

Build code from data tag 05C = 3rd week May. Sorry I don't have PHS documentation yet, but if you can suggest anywhere else I can find a date code, I'll have a look.

Pod.

I was hoping for more participation I have 3 other 64s here that all have the same script measurement as the others listed they were all built in the Pontiac Mi plant the latest build date was July 15 64 so it appears that all GTOs built at least from April through July had the same measurements but could we please have more input on original cars Thank You

Hi Don,

Just found your private message this morning, and have attempted to crawl into the car (its stored for the winter and sandwiched between two others!). In the end I got my wife to do it for me. The park brake code is "554" and the block is "D254". I can decode that as Apr 25th 1964. I presume the brake is May 5th 1964? I'm really pleased that the dates all hold together and seem to confirm that this is an original car? I have headers so couldn't read the manifold dates, and have not taken the valve covers off yet (but I do have 9770716 heads). Can't find the cast date for intake, but manifold is 8436572. Is that correct?

I couldn't resist the posting for the production plant. It has to be the shortest post ever on this forum! Of course, that was before I found you private message so please don't think I was being facetious.

Since you obviously have looked a quite a few '64 data plates, could you please have a look at my post the other day and give an opinion?
Many thanks,

Paul.

Car is a basket case but best I can tell the quarters are the originals. Wife is sleeping and hid my docs but I will post build date and plant tomorrow.

Hi Ken,

Your car looks like I wish mine did! Same colour (Nocturne?) but much better condition!
