Did they keep track of colors for the Trans Am in 70-72? From my tracking over the years almost all 72's where Blue.

I sold the T/A about fifteen years ago. The guy I sold it to did nothing with it for about twelve years, then sold it. t went through a few hands, then ended up in with a new owner from GA who restored it.

In retrospect, I'm not sure if the car originally came with a unitized distributor. When I bought the T/A, it came with a bunch of parts the owner had purchased from another 72 T/A. The engine in the car had a bad knock, and the owner was worried that the block was bad. The crank and two rods were bad, but the block was fine.

The engine in the car was original, with the exception of having the incorrect carb and an HEI was installed. There was a unitized distributor in the parts that came with it. The seller told me the unitized distributor was the original distributor out of the car, but I never verified it.

I can probably dig up the VIN, but I don't have the PHS on it any more.

The front seats are comfort weave, which came with the custom interior. The back are standard as are the door panels.

Looks as if the rear tail light wires have been spliced ? ouch but still a very nice car. Makes me feel proud to own one my self - 4spd. A/C white on blue

This car looks to have a 73 front end on it ?? and missing the dual snorkles on the shaker base ??

The floor of the trunk looks like a flat black, shouldn't it be speckeled/spackeled paint there if original/no repairs?

The "orange" in the trunk is the original red oxide primer used on these cars. My white 72 TA has the same look as well as on the underside of the car (when you wipe the grease away.) The paint code on the cowl tag "26" is correct for Lucerne blue. The grills are correct 72 "honeycomb" units. The fenders are later (73 and up) fenders with the cutouts for the two anti-flex bars, so it probably has a later model radiator support as well. Too bad the motor's long gone: It's a rare car.

When I was shopping for mine I was looking for a four speed car with a/c. Nothing like shifting gears in the cold! Mine has its complete original drivetrain and rust free California floors. It needs a small section of the center of the trunk floor replaced and a 2 inch square patch in one lower quarter, otherwise it's amazingly rust free, still has the red primer on the floorboards. I actually found it on ebay last year and drove to the guys house nearby and bought it on the spot, the second day of the listing. Paid less than the current bid on this blue car ($18000). Boy, have the prices gone up in only 6 months!

I've had 5 70 RAIVs, 2 were blue(still have 1 white) seven 71s, 2 were blue(still have white one) two 72 4spds, both were blue

I see a numbers matching 71 Lucy blue T/A went pretty cheap on Ebay this morning, I think for about $23k. It looked very nice and had the parchment interior. Does anyone know anything about that one?

In my immediate area there are 2 blue 72 T/A's and 2 cameo 71 T/A's. Last spring I spoke with a guy from one of the southern states and he had 3 Lucy blue T/A's and decided to paint one white. I also purchased what I thought was a white 72 T/A a few years back sight unseen. When I checked over the car it was code 26! Not only that the non matching numbers 455 was suppose to be fresh and it would not run, the oil looked like MUD. Needless to say this particular Classic auto dealer got the car back.

I have a 72 WM code motor, and build sheet shows it came with a unitized distributor.

YE and WD had a standard distributor,the other 2 had the Unitized distributor.

Bummer that the 455HO is gone, but still sweeeeeet!

I've owned a number of 72 T/As and looked at many more. I would estimate the white cars account for about 2/3 of the production. I own one 4-spd now, and it's white. I've owned two other 4-spds in the past, one blue one and one white one.

My WD coded HO is a standard distributor car...and I'm still looking for a 1112126 distributor. I did find an NOS 1112145 1972 455 4 bbl (Non HO) dist on ebay last month for $100 so I'll be using that for the time being.
