After changing out the head gasket the engine cranks but will not start. Seem to have pressure in the fuel line. No code comes up on it when testing and the reader cant run test on the systems dealing with the exhaust. Any suggestions as to why it won's start?

It should run for a few seconds as soon as you turn the key on, you should be able to hear it at the tank. I would check for the correct fuel pressure at the port on the rail before spending over $300 for the pump. The fitting is right behind the p/s reservoir, you should have 35 lbs.

IAC Valve (Idle Air Control). A common item that fails and it will in fact prevent your car from starting. Just happened to my 99 GA GT...

simple check. see if you have spark[they make a tool but you can use a sparkplug and ground to engine] if spark is present and you dont have a fuel gauge simply give engine a small shot of starting fluid. if engine wants to start it is either the fuel pump circuit or pump or could be the injector pulse. to check for injector pulse you will need a noid light [pick one up at parts store they are cheap just tell them what engine you are working on]unplug one injector and install noid light have someone crank over if light flickers injection pulse should be ok. if engine ran before you took took apart i would say you probably just forgot to plug in loom or a ground. also check the plugins on the coil pack. keep us informed.

another question. when you had the push rods out did you make sure to keep them in order? 3.4 has short and long push rods for intake and exhaust. if not you may have them in wrong. take a quick compression check. double check if you are not sure. any good service manual should have info. or get it off the net. good luck randy
