I love Ames Performance but...
...can't you guys use some decent packing in your shipments?? I've thrown away some things by accident beacuse they were jumbled around in the box full of newspaper!! You're "The Nation's Largest Supplier of Classic Pontiac Parts", could you just use some bubble wrap or something?? You guys have great stuff and GREAT prices, that's just my only complaint.

Bryan, you may or may not already know this.... but this is Performance Years, not Ames Performance. I doubt Ames will have any knowledge of your suggestion by posting it to this site. Just passing a little heads up.

Just make it a habit to check your goods against the packing slip. This way you know you got what you paid for and you never throw anything away.

I bought an outside mirror from them,it will not stay where you set it to see the rear,just spins around! bought it a couple of yearsago,just installed it but I am not happy-looks like it is super glue time.POS!

Also, while I do business with our host company, Ames sells a lot of other parts that Performance Years does not. However it is vice versa also. Performance years also sells performance parts for Pontiac; Ames is more concentrated on stock restorations and does not carry parts that I might need from Performance Years. I use both equally about the same. |

I've not had any trouble from either Ames or PY. Both have accepted returns that I was dissatisfied with. My only frustration is that when I reeealy need something it seems to be out of stock with both vendors - but that's a problem with the suppliers not the vendors. Also shipping costs seem high for both as compared to Summit, but maybe that's just me. :confused:

I never had a single issue with AMES. Excellent service and fast shipping. Very helpful and friendly. I like the fixed shipping too. Packing is done well and I never had a package damaged upon arrival.

well I was thinking of going to a fixed shipping charge, but thought that it was more fair to quote the customer the right rate as it could be less if they were closer but now I see some people look at it as "make up as you go " shipping priceing, I guess you can never satisfy no matter how much you try!!!

Had a set of rear spring insluators that went bad on me...got all cracked after being in for only 15 months. Doug at Ames asked for pics, I sent some, and he sent me a new set of insulators. That was almost too easy.

I have used both and like both. I agree that it seems when you really need a part it is always out of stock. PY is excellent on marking parts with a parts number. Ames is really lacking in this area. I just received a bunch of small parts from Ames that PY did not carry and they were in baggies with no numbers. I guess you have to by psychic or a better mechanic than I am to know by sight what they are. I will say this Quint at Ames spent the needed time with me over the phone to identify these parts. Just my .02 worth

I alway's start here, just because of this forum, I usually need help in installing all these parts too. If Py does not have it, My only other choice is AMES. I like summitt too....But that is a different story.
