Default Tires for '72 GTO convertible

I have made the following modifications to the suspension/steering of my car:
1. All new heavy duty steering linkage
2. Boxed rear control arms with polyurethane bushings
3. Installed 1" diameter rear sway bar
4. Installed 1 1/4" diameter front sway bar with polyurethane bushings
5. New ball joints
6. Polyurethane bushings for the front sway bar end links
7. Power steering fluid cooler and EGR power steering gear box
8. Polyurethane front control arm bushings
My question is: What are the best tires for this car to make use of the tight, responsive handling. My first choice would be a highway tread rather than all season. I will not be racing it, however if I have a good road ahead of me with no other cars in sight I might be tempted to "see what it will do".
Thanks,
Bill Evans

Start looking for tires in the sizes you want to run and you might be surprised. Current tire and wheel sizes are far different from what your car had new, and those old 14"-15" sizes are really a niche market these days. Modern handling designs are pretty much not available unless you change to at least 16" and better yet 17" rims. Big bucks.
