I have several I have taken out of cars some still in deck lids some not and I just finished this part of my Judge.

All of them were body color as far up as the paint could hit meaning it looks as though they were in place when the inside of the deck lid was painted. The few i have with electric are also painted but he soleniod is tucked up in the deck lid pretty well so not much paint ends up on the solenoid.

Of course this could be different from plant to plant who knows.

I clear coated mine after bead blasting it.. It was just a bit rusty , then Mounted it and put overspray on it like it had on it when I did the restoration

All trunk latches and trunk latch receptacles were in place when
the car was painted, regardless of plant. The reason for this was the car
was painted with the trunk lid installed already and latches were necessary to hold the trunk down when painting the top of the lid after the inside of the
lid and the trunk jams were painted. For this same reason, all trunk latch
attaching bolts and deck lid to hinge bolts were painted body color as well.
The latches were painted body color in all exposed areas. The same applies
to the door strikers and latches.....they were all in place when the car was painted and all should be body color, including the latch to door bolts and
door hinges and bolts.
