Default PAYPAL SUCKS

my son who nolonger lives with me screwed up his paypal account, being we have the same last name and he lived here when he originally registered they are holding my account hostage, cant do nothing with it till his account is taken care of,not likely to happen,so now i cant send or recieve money,i have emailed them twice and now they say they can't discuss the other(sons) account with me,but they can hold up mine
so i say again PAYPAL SUCKS

I agree, had one dealing with them, and I'll never do it again. I will only buy and sell using US Postal Money Orders.

I'll add. I had one, forgot password, as i barely use e-bay and rarely use paypal. UGH I now have one but I cannot close my old accounts as they want too much personal info and I don't want my identiti jeapordized. I feel your pain. So far, I rather use money order and have had awesome luck with the guys on this board.

I just bought something on ebay and told the seller that Paypal sucks and I wont use it. I sent him a check and told him it was ok to ship the part after it clears. He said no problem.

Five years on and no problems at all so perhaps I am lucky with no issues yet. When you want something quick and want to be paid quick nothing beats it. Granted mo's and checks are good too but not superfast like paypal.

I just don't like the somewhat high percentages they take when you buy/sell but I just price the item I'm selling a few dollars more to cover it.

well i sent them the info they requested after a bunch of running around to get it to verify my identity, then they still refuse me due to similarities in our accounts,so i call them and talk to a supervisor and she tells me the same thing but will not tell me the similarities due to privacy issues,i say what privacy issues you are holding my account hostage on issues you wont disclose,so my last words to her was"you can quote me on this paypal can Pound f'ucking sand"

Wow that does suck, I have used PayPal now for several years never a problem and yes it too convenient, I hate the hassle of MO's.
I am almost 50 and have seen that term many times but what exactly does Pound Sand mean?. I know you are upset, hope things get better.

I, too have used PayPal for over five years with no problems. It is true that the fees are a pain, but much easier and quicker than getting a money order. I, too have heard horror stories about PayPal, but they have been self-created. As is the case with you, my son had his funds frozen after some allegations of fraud by his customers. The custormers were right and after it was resolved, my son got his money. I suspect you're using the same account info--email address as your son.

i had no problems with paypal either. although, i have heard about these problems others had, and they sound aggravating. paypal is great for overseas buyers. i have sold a bunch of pontiac parts overseas, and payapl is great for those deals. i never use paypal to solve money issues, takes too long. going through ebay usually solves any issues for me. good luck with your situation.

I've been using Paypal for a few years now, with no problems. I like the fact that some businesses are now taking Paypal, and it's nice to be able to buy something off site, and send money via paypal if the seller is a member, vs money order, or check. I did set up a separate checking account to fund paypal, instead of drawing against a credit card, as if something goes haywire, it wouldn't wreak havoc with my other accounts.

Kayser:
I suggest you file a formal complaint with the Attorney General's office in your state. If your account was entirely separate from your son's, then Paypal has no legal basis to freeze your account. Of course, it would not be unreasonable for Paypal to require enough personal information from you to verify that you were not the account holder who is in default.
