Have an 03 Escalade with the entertainment system in it. DVD player shows "no disc" when trying to put a DVD into it.

I tried cleaner and it won't accept that disc either. Is this something I can fix myself or am I going to need to take it to a shop? (I was a Chevy tech 10 years ago for 10 years, but haven't kept up on service issues)

I'm not a GM Tech, but I am a service engineer at GM.
Is this a remote CD unit? If it is it could be a communication error between the CD unit and the head main unit.

If the CD player is part of the head unit then all you can do is remove the unit and try to clean the lens with a qtip and lens cleaner. If this does not work then the unit will need to be sent to a radio repair shop.

GM does not recommend the use of CD lens cleaner discs. The risk of contaminating the lens of the CD optics with lubricants internal to the CD mechanism.

I have a 99 STS the remote CD changer works good, but the one disc player in the head unit gives me a CD error. Somthing happens internal to the unit that causes a no disc read condition.

I think you maybe misunderstood the issue. This is the DVD (movie) player that I am getting the error for. The CD system works just ducky!

Sorry I may have replied in hast.

I looked over the service information and basicalliy the same applies. It appears that for some reason the player cannot detect or read the cd. If you are trying to read a cd that you recorded, the cd player may not be able to read it, try a different CD.

I also found two TSB's that state trying to play a cd with wrong format will create problems, see below.

DVD audio discs are another high resolution sound medium that is offered to the consumer. This format is NOT compatible with a CD player or a conventional DVD Video player such as those offered by GM. The exception is that recently, some manufacturers of DVD-A discs have begun producing two-sided DVD-A discs. These discs may be labelled DualDisc with an accompanying symbol. Only DVD-A discs with this symbol will play in your GM CD/DVD.

Sorry I can't be of more help, if you have tried differed CD's, then I suspect you will need to remove the player and send it out for repairs.

Hey, thanks for the info. I figured removal and sending out was likely, but didn't know if there was maybe some trick or known issues that maybe showed up in a service bulliten or something.

Load/Eject error-----disc is in player but will not play or eject. Thought maybe someone had an idea. It was working perfectly in an 05 Denali. Sorry for cutting in on your thread.
