Default Turbo Wheels - different widths?

Hi,
I have a question about the Turbo Wheels that were mounted on Pace Cars and Turbo Trans Ams. I already found a post where it's mentioned that the rims were produced in 7,5" and 8" width. An owner of some edition Trans Ams asked me for wheels for SE cars and I offered him a set of 8J (off a 1981 Turbo TA, center was unpainted, 8j cast in). He told me that both Pace Cars (he owns a 1979 and a 1980 TA) have 8,5" wheels and he only wants these.
Were 3 different widths available?
Sorry for my poor english (I'm from Germany...) and thanks in advance,
de_ta

As I understand it,79 & 80 Turbo wheels were 8" wide & 81's were 7 1/2".
Perhaps there was some overlap of leftover 8" wheel's getting onto 81's.
I did pull a set off an 81 Recaro T/A,but don't recall what size they were.

FYI: ACTUAL wheel dimension (width) is measured from the INSIDE of the bead (where the tire sits)
Your buddy is just measuring WRONG. He has 7 1/2" wheels.

The pair I have are 7.5" wide. I don't know when they switched from the 8" wide wheels to the 7.5". I think maybe late '80 or early '81.

sad story, found a 81 bandit in a wrecking yard, family on vacation gas line leak set car on fire.all the rims were okay, kind of discolored but that was it.didn't notice until i had them blasted to clean up,but 3 were 7.5 and 1 was 8.

also i have one i'll try to post a picture of sometime.it is 8 inch, but the center bowl i'll call it,is deeper and comes all the way out to the fins.no little lip between the bowl and the fins.at the trans am nats we were trying to figure if it was a factory error that somehow got out?
