Default 2008 Jack Roush 427 R Trak Pak...my eye!

I have a very well built carbureted 462 in my 67 GTO with E heads putting out 535 rwhp and 520 lbs of rw torque on pump gas, dyno measured. I know many of you have MUCH stouter motors so I ain"t bragging! I have lightened my rotating assembly by 2080 grams, and used all the best internals with about 13.5 k invested in the motor.

I just utterly destroyed one of these about 20 minutes ago in a heads up street race from a dead standstill. The new Roush owner actually did a u turn as soon as she saw me guessing she had found easy prey....wrong-o! She soon pulled up next to me, we had the reds, no traffic in front of either of us, and no coppers around so...when she revved her supercharged 427 a few times, I heard a challenge I could not ignore. THe whine of 427 blown HP against my old 462? Hmmmmmmm!

I replied by opening up my 3 inch exhaust dumps and revved the 462 roller motor to 7000 rpm a few times to let her know this was no pushover. She was never even IN the race if you get my drift, I let her launch and then hit it, and hooked.I even gave her the jump on me. They are lovely new beasts but I beat the thing like a rented mule and had her by about 10 cars before we hit the 1/8th mile. By the time I had hit 100, even though she had provoked this little exchange of blue oval vs old school pontiac she wisely quit and laid off the throttle. It was downright embarrassing for her, but It was fun for her too, she pulled up even to me after the utter destruction of her car, and went on and on about how fast and beautiful my car is. She was in love with my car. I agreed with her and my day was made! She did likely pay the full 60 GRAND that car costs, didn't have a single hand in the building of it and I still spanked the living snot outta of it! Gotta love them Pontiacs!!! No lives other than our own were risked during the making of this experience. I am sure I could have had her lunch in my factory stock 2006 6 Speed GTO just as easily. That turns consistent 12.9's at 107 mph in my hands.

To be fair, the poor driver who picked this fight had no ideas she was going up against a VERY experienced driver with a large number of low 11 second time slips in my 67 GTO prior to adding a new tubular suspension up front with Hotchkis Extreme sway bars front and rear, and full Metco Billet Aluminum Control Arms out back with Rear Spring airbags, Eibach springs all around and KYB GasAdjust Shocks and Wilwood's best 4 piston polished calipers 12.19 inch front and rear cross dilled and slotted rotors and all new spindles, tie's and balls, edelbrock tie rod connectors etc. This is put to the ground through Torque thrust II's and Nittos 555 extreme Z rated street tries. Traction is a problem if I dont feather the throttle. The 462 GTO does 118 MPH at 11.30 to 11.50 range with a few 121 and 122's and 3.23 rear gears, tight continental convertor, and a well built Transmission Center Raptor stage II TH400 with kolene steels, and red alto clutches. The trap speeds tell me I am not getting nearly as much out of her on the track in ET's as I could, but will likely not change anything at this point. Drive carefully and wisely. 60 foots are coming at an avg of 1.7, with 0-60 in 3.7 to 3.8 seconds avg. Once I am past the feathering of the gas pedal it comes on to 100 SO FAST! Sure makes for a LOT of fun I can tell you that! Though she wings 7000 it isnt needed at all. 5500 rpm shift points, with the trap coming in at 5800 rpm just as I cross the finish line. It is perect for my motor, and will likely live a long happy life at those rpms. Nylon bushed tubular upper and lower fronts control arms in front, del alum in the metco's out back. The sways are huge at 1 5/8" front, and 1 3/8" rear and the new rear attaches in a completely different way that makes for big improvment over my former 1 1/8" Hellwig rear conventional bar. They are hollow and lighter by half to boot. She currently has a 3540 pound curb weight with AC/ Full 2006 GTO interior and a massive Sony and Boston Acoustic stereo system with JL Audio 2x12 pro-wedge sub and 2000 watts of JL Audio watt amplifiers in it. ( I use this to blow away the rappers with my classic rock) I dont take any of this out when I race at the track either. Could likely shave another 100 pounds or more pounds in interior and speaker weight! I have about 60 grand invested as of this minute, so it was a fair contest in terms of dollar bang for the buck, I can pull almost a full G consistently in the old brick so it aint gonna catch me in the corners either. This car is scienced out perfectly.
