I have it but I know I could never find it. Call Pete or Jane if nobody can produce it. The # is on his website.

Hmmm,I checked my article collection, did'nt find it,dont seem to recall the article that well either...
All the Pete M. 400 cid articles I have are higher hp builds. Anybody care to post the relevant specs for discussion? I cant expect 65gto69 to send everybody a copy of the article. Maybe post the scans for those interested in this topic.

Good idea but it is too big. The article is 3 pages and in order to have good clarity I scanned them in at 150 dpi 8-bit grayscale, file size is 6 megs or 4.5 megs in pdf format.
If I can post it I will, but I don't know how clear it will be if I take it down a lesser amount. Thanks, Mark P.S. The article is in the April 1992 issue, under "Indian Head" I just tried lowering the scan dpi and the article is still clear, so I will post each page separately.

Here ya go!!!
Page 1, 2 & 3. I know it is in a microsoft word DOC file but it is the only thin I could use to get the file size down to 300k. If you can't read a DOC file let me know and I will send it to you via email Mark [email protected]

Works for pics too. Usually ends up taking a couple of posts to get a whole article posted though. I could probably do it if need be. Email: [email protected] |

Only 400cubes and a Hydraulic cam and it really liked the 1 7/8" stepped headers. And people still think 2" headers are "Overkill" for 455plus engines?!!

I used the 246/253 duration cam in my 455 way back when.
That was an awesome grind. Went 12.01 time after time. Heres a quick breakdown: Car weighed 3750 at the time. 455 .030 TRWs. No 13 heads, unported.Just a valve job. Stock T-2 intake. Holley 850. 1.75 Heddman headers. Comp Roller tip rockers. Torque Tech 3" exhaust with tailpipes. Generic TCI 3500 conveter. 3.89 gears. Cam was also advanced 4 degrees. Gave alot of Mustangs the whooping;as that cam was very streetable.I drove that thing everywhere. Mark.

What does Pete mean when he says, "Closing the lobe separation angle (paradoxically, spreading the lobes apart) increases the overlap but also closes the intake valve sooner, resulting in higher cylinder pressure?"
Closing the lobe separation angle spreads the lobes apart??? |
