Sounds like one of those deals where the lock isn't really unlocked even though the lever and key cylinder feel like they are working. They get gummed up with old grease and years of dust, and one day just stop working. Unfortunately, it's always in the lock mode when it happens.
Murphy's law.Try to get a long narrow screwdriver or prybar down in there from whatever you can access, and force the lock open at the source. Youwill have to determine which way the lever moves on the lock itself, by pulling on the lock plunger.

You'll might have to get the bottem panel off as well. I had to use a screwdriver and push down on the lock part that is on the latch mechanisim....where it hits the strick bolt on the door jamb...
I was inside the car and the other door had a broken handle. I got out pretty quick! |

I did this 3 weeks ago on my Wagon. Geeting the panels off were a real treat with the door closed and locked!!!!
Anyway, I used a mirror to see what I was doing and it took a few tries, but did get it to unlock. One of the little clips had broken.

Sprayed wd40, jiggled rods then used a mirror and light and
discovered that the rod for the interior latch was loose and jamming the lock rod so that it wouldn't unlock Thanks for the tips Brad |
