Default 75 trans am 400 no start

after turning the car over the other day just to make shur it could turn over still (it did) we took the steering colume out to fix adn strip and paint the interior.. put it back in today to start the car and bring it around to my garage to weld a spot in the floor and the exhaust up we found out that it didnt make a gig ... the lights would come on and the buzzer would buzz ... took that colume out and tryed another and it didnt do anything eithor ...... any common probles related to starting ... what wires need to be jumped to hot wire it??? should i pull the starting motor off and have that checked too?

It it's an automatic transmission,the back drive linkage is likely NOT engaging your neutral safety switch.

Rotate the bowl (behind ignition lock) on steering column fully counter-clockwise or make sure the lever on lower end of column (below brake booster) is pulled all the way UP.
You can temporarily tie it up with bailing wire or short bungee cord.

If it was cranking before you pulled the column,it should crank now.

i wired that thing up under the brake booster up and still no go ... battery looks a little on the dead side so i got it thrown on the charger .. the lights wasnt comming on but the buzzer was very quietly buzzing had to have my ear almost on it. so hopefully tomorrow the battery should be good and it should start

got her goin .... took that thing off the column .. cant rember the name but its some sort of switch and moved it down a little further i guess it was loose or somthing but it runs fine now ... thanks for the help!!!
