Dropped the tank on my T-37 to replace the sending unit and like so many people have, I found the build sheet tapes to the tank. I thought it was pretty cool. It's fun trying to decipher it.

Thanks for posting it Adam. I can't believe how pristine it is. Usually gas tank sheets are pretty rough. The real weird thing is that a car going to Indiana would be built in California. Why didn't they build it in Pontiac? Also note that since it went to Indiana they deleted the front license plate bracket.

Cars orders are distributed to the final assembly plants only roughly based on geography. Certain plants only build certain option combinations, so if one of those options is selected it can send the order to a more remote assembly plant.

Orders are also distributed based on production volume (to level the workload at the plants) and the urgency of build (bigger hurry = closer plant).

Right Keith, that makes sense. My 2003 Silverado SS came from Oshawa Ontario even though Ft. Wayne and Pontiac were closer. They were the only plant doing the "Super Sport" model.

Agree with Keith. Have paperwork & copies of paperwork on over six hundred '71 GT-37's, & a bunch of T-37's & LeMans. As so many '71 Pontiac A-bodys were built out of Fremont & Pontiac plants, its easy spot certain delivery trends. One I noticed many years ago, was Fremont plant built Pontiac A-bodies for '71 were distributed to every state west of the Mississippi River. For some reason Iowa, & part of Missouri seemed to get quite a few from Pontiac plant (that being an exception). On Adam's T-37, its a very late build, & its a very basic build. As such, its very possible Fremont had the capacity to build a few more as non a/c 350 powerglide combo's & Pontiac plant didn't. Of all the assembly plants building Pontiac A-bodys, Fremont ran very late, that is a huge factor.. earlier in the production year, such an Indiana delivered Pontiac A-body 2 door hardtop would have invariably came out of the Pontiac plant.

With over 600 paperwork copies for a GT-37 how many do you think still exist today? On this board I bet there are less than 30 GT-37s and I personally have not seen even close to that number here with photos.

I owned Chris's 70.5 gt-37 for a couple years. I loved that car and the rarity of it, but I got really sick of people thinking I was trying to make it into a judge when they saw the stripe.

Adam - how many miles on the car? Just trying to get a feel for the condition of the build sheet vs usage/environment the car saw.

For comparison sake here's the sheet from my GTO (found above the tank). 4800 miles 1/4 at a time (never seen snow and only in the rain once or twice).

Can any of you tell me what wheels it would've had originally by this build sheet? I saw where it said F-78 -14 tires, which 14's on a late 71 model surprised me, but everything else about it is cheap and base, so why not the wheels too.. Haha

Thanks Mike, while I was researching this you got your reply in first. But since I went through the trouble I'll add my 2 cents. Box #51 Wheel Trim = Cap, Box #59 Whls = HF (14 X 6), Box 79 Color / W = 67 Castillian Bronze rim color. And since the rims were body color it would had to have come with the standard poverty caps.

I knew that only certain colors got the body color wheels, and the rest got black. I wasn't sure if the C.B. was one of them that did, and I would have done them that way even if black was correct, but I sure am glad that they came that way. Can't wait to see the bronze steelies with some caps and wide ovals on them. I'm a happy boy.

Dans car is on of my favorites... I talked to him a while back because I bought a complete 71 455 325 D port motor that was originally out of an a body , and i was contemplating removing all the original 350/2/8.2 setup and tucking it away in storage and putting my 71 455 and 71 th-400 in its place.
