68gto turbo 400 question
I'm in process of getting everything hooked up on my 68 400/400 GTO. I have a question on how the kick down works on this year. Before I pulled motor and had new motor and tranny rebuilt it did not kick down at all . The only way was to manually shift to the lower gear. Only drove for about twenty miles. It has the hurst his/ her shifter but I think I am missing something . Thanks in advance any picture would be great.Doug

There's a kickdown switch on the gas pedal - is that present and working?

Make sure that when you floor the gas pedal, it pushes the switch all the way down. There has to be 12 volts going to the switch and when the switch is pushed all the way, it should sent 12 volts to the connector on the side of the transmission.

thats the switch and the right pedal, switch could be bad..easy to test it works or it doesnt
check continuity slide it,it works or it doesnt its on and off.. you have another issue there..those purple wires are neutral safety..and they are out of the plastic connector from the console harness and they jumped it with the blue wire..it will start in any gear and thats bad or potentially bad

Looks like someone also put a piece of hose on the kickdown too presumably to get it to kick down earlier. I wonder if that was a band aid for the switch not working right.
