So my guess is the first 2 cars are restored with poor decal placement? The second one screams 68 GTO with decals? 1 BAD, 2 BAD, and 3 WORST!!!

Same thing happens on a 70...They even had an original fender that had the correct placement to show where it went during the restoration. I guess 99% of the people don't notice anyway. I have seen originals pretty crooked, but the general vicinity was right.

I've seen this Coker Tire Judge in Muscle Car Review a couple times. Do you think they purposely put the decal that high? Surely they had reference pics of the correct placement from the original fenders they used that had the decals in the right place and used the assembly manual. It just baffles me with all the information out there that a car making the show circuit and in magazines can be this far off. Reminds me of the black Judge with the backward rear stripes. It looks odd.

it messes with my OCD too. lol. I can only figure that the guys putting them on have no clue and probably weren't even born when they originally came out so they have no clue where they go. Do the kits come with placement instructions?

The white one isn't even a Judge. A nice GTO, with the Judge crap added for resale. I like it more without the phony stripes.

So many non-Judge out there with Judge stripes and stickers...I even saw a guy with a 1972 Lemans with spoiler/Judge stripes and stickers. I was at a car show a few years back and saw 3 1969 GTO's, all with Judge stuff, all 3 clones.

The line workers got them in the general vicinity, but there were a lot of variations depending on who was working the line that day.

The 1968 GTO was the first mass produced Pontiac to receive body stickers (on the 1/4 panel), and many times those stickers were crooked, too far forward, or too far backward. Line workers were used to installing die-cast emblems, and those emblems went into punched holes, so alignment wasn't necessary. Starting with the 1968 GTO (which they made a ton of), having a line worker place stickers on the body was something new to them. They didn't measuring anything, they didn't have tape lines to make sure the stickers were straight, they just put them on the body based on where they were instructed to place them. Most of the time, they were fine. Quality Control would have corrected any huge mistakes.

The Judge fender logo sticker was the same way. Original photos of 69 Judges show them in slightly different spots, some even crooked.

1979 Trans Ams were notorious for having shaker scoop stickers too high, too low, too far forward, or too far backward. Wherever they were placed, other side was always the same, so you know it was how an individual was placing the stickers for that shift on the assembly line that day.

Ours came off the first time we took our new '68 through the automatic car wash.

I have no issue with people personalizing their cars, but when they are trying to clone something, it takes as much effort to get it wrong as it does to get it right.

So you can imagine what it's like for the other cars out there that aren't being cloned. All you have to do is check out the dealers that sell on eBay and major auctions to see that old cars are commodities and little attention is paid to the integrity of the vehicles.

It's really a microcosm of everything else in life.
