Anyone make a 68-72 aftermarket frame? Looking for something more rigid. Don't want to put a cage in the car though.
Seems like I remember Wangers did a beefy frame car sometime ago.

Thanks for links ponyaker. That Schwartz chassis with the biggest brakes option looks like the ritz.

I'd like to see someone come up with a new replacement frame that would accept the stock rear end and front suspension, something better than the factory built, but not "over the top."

then you dont need an aftermarket frame if you arent chasing brakes and big rears..most people can never push the car further than the frame was designed for,,and bolt on stuff fixes the small stuff..for decades people bragged how well and the high quality of the ride of an A body frame gives..now they arent anygood..blah blah..all about pro touring..

Box the stock frame channels, add the braces that came on a manual tranny model, probably a few other things that could be done by any welding/fab shop that would create a frame that would exceed the capabilities of the stock suspension geometry and brakes.

Did those things on the ET car and it should support the 800 Hp motor that is in it.
Doing a twin turbo pro touring car 1600 max so the reason for the thread.

I thought there may be a light tube frame type chassis out there for street duty. Seems like everything offered has the boxed rails.

Schwartz has this chassis that is for the most part tubular and 140 lighter than a stock GM chassis. It looks like it is a bolt in for street use.
http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/cha...wartz-chassis/ Here is a chassis designer discussing merits of square tube, compared to single and double tube chassis. although he's discussing race cars he discusses the why and how of chassis depending upon the power of the engine and usage of the car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKwsQDK-yiI |

Rectangle stiffer than Square stiffer than round.
"Grand tour"; rear air springs make all the difference from coils, from leafs. |
