69 GTO Engine Block Identification
I have just uncovered the engine block ID# on my GTO (thank you Jonta1 & North) and it is 28F110783. It is a YC block out of a 68 (probably) or 69 full size. I believe the F means it was produced in June.

VIN Stamp decode:
2 = Pontiac 8 = 1968 F = Plant Code. There was no F plant. Could this be a poorly stamped E? Linden, NJ Sequence 1 = V8 Car 10783 is consecutive number of car built with V8 engine at that plant YC engines were in FULL SIZE Pontiacs. 290 HP 2 BBL 400. This is not a GTO stamped 400 engine; although the block itself is identical.

Thank You 68gtoMN. It is an E. Now I know where the block came from.
