Swap meet find 1966 tripower. Now what?
So I was at a local swap meet today and snagged what I’m pretty sure is a 1966 tripower. The numbers were pretty corroded. I’m working on that but I’m 90% the last 3 digits are 898.
Problem is it’s smashed. Looks like someone dropped an engine block on it. The rear carb which is the most smashed has a tag on it that codes to a 66 421 tripower carb. The middle also has a tag but doesn’t seem to be tripower which is a bummer. Front carb has no tag and a broken Venturi. I’m not sure what can be salvaged from the carbs. I know tripower carbs are hens teeth so maybe even the bases provide a good value to build from? No idea. That’s why I am here. Trying to establish what if anything outside of the intake can be used. Or even if some of the parts will have value to the guys who restore these. A large part of what I’m wondering is can other more easily found 2g parts be used to replace parts on the tripower units. I don’t care about originality at all. Just function. I’m only in $200 on it so even if I only have an intake I don’t think I got taken for too much of a ride. I would like to get this setup for my 62 safari. With a later model engine of course.

Extra photo. To my complete shock the base nuts actually came loose without breaking.
The casting numbers are tough. I’m afraid I might blow through them if I hit them with anything aggressive. But the holes for the base in the center and outer are the same size. About 1.68x by a quick and dirty measurement. Being the same size would confirm a 66 right?

Definitely a ‘66 without a doubt. Easily identifiable by the divorced choke stove mount, it’s the only year that had that feature as well as the larger base center carb.
Carbs from what I can see with a not so well trained eye appear to be Tri-Power units, too bad about the rough life they’ve lived. You did good for two bills.
