Do the studs at the bottom of the gas pedal have nuts on the back side or nuts tacked/welded to the floorboard?

No separate nuts on the backside.
Thanks to the engineers.

Good and bad. Would be hard if there were an outside to install. My 65 they are so rusty the hex on the studs are worn down as well as the stud itself. Might have to cut it off with a dremel and try and drill /tap it. Even a 10mm and vice grips can;t break them loose.

Try getting them red hot with a torch.
Usually that breaks the rust bond allowing you to turn them out.

Will give it a try. Replacement floor pans are not drilled nor have the nuts on them.

So if you’re replacing the floor pans do you really need to bother taking them out?
Sounds like the ball studs are junk and won’t be reused.

Floor pan is a future project! Might just use something to fill the pin holes in the back floor and glass or POR the driver's pan which is the worse. I thkn windsheild leak rusted it .
Yes studs are junk! The harder I look at this car the more weird stuff. not sure if you saw the weird probable rear quarter panel replacement I posted awhile back inside the sail panels/trunk. Hard to tell where the edges were as they must have done a decent job blending it in. Used lead up to roof. Also passenger side tire is 1&1/2" closer to the front fender lip but i do not see any frame tweaking on the lift and body panels line up decent. Rear window , windshield and trunk channels the worse. Trying to make it just a decent looking driver.

Heat got one broken loose and removed. Let the other one go 1/4 turn then seized and broke off. As long as the threads are(wow really long) going to get under it and see if I can grab the remaining on the bottom.
Finished 4" wire wheel on a 4.5 angle grinder getting the rust off. A few holes pondering what to do with. Going to use a rust convertor that makes it Zn phosphate. The not sure if POR, fiberglass, Evercoat metal bondo, to get that sealed until I put a floor pan in it. Finally pulled the rear door panels off and was surprised the window mechanism was all right there. My Impala as a metal panel covering it,

Wiped floor down with lacquer thinner this weekend and will do a rust treatment before some POR floor repair stuff and "glass".
