Air Cleaner Element Cover- Ram Air Engines
(Black) 67-68 All Ram Air # 6424398 69-70 All Ram Air # 6485198 What is the difference between these two? I purchased one for my '68 RAI Firebird a couple of years ago from PY and it had what appeared to be a dent in it. Sent it back and received a replacement which had the same problem. Looks like a problem with forming process. Is there a better quality Cover available? Are these correct including the correct form, size and lip at the bottom edge ? Thanks Chris RamAirJohn
Eph. 4:32
Semper Fi
http://members.aol.com:/ramair68/gen...html |

Oil Pans
Getting tough to find nice straight, solid pans. Yes, there are aftermarket replacements out there and chrome plated versions but why not original? 1964 V-8 #9773322 1965 - 1969 V-8 #9778798 1965 - 1971 V-8 #481030 NOTE: In 1971, this number superseded the original number #9778798 If anyone goes through the trouble of making an OEM Oil Pan, it should be done according to the original design (drain bolt in correct location). Not chrome plated, not aftermarket 'best-we-can-do Certainly this should be an easy project for our die-stamping Asian friends. So long as they use the same gage steel. Thanks ! Have any idea what the tooling costs would be to create the dies? Large dies capable of stamping out mediocre to good Demand... The number of '64's in existance & needing a hood, is miniscule compared to the number of '68-70's needing a hood to replace their kinked & rusted original. A repro of the '68-70 hood was first reproduced because of large demand. Even with a repro avail, many folks are so cheap they'll not pop for a repro. On the other end, folks working on highend restorations still demand & pay $$$ for a nice original non RA & RA versions. Same scenario with folks working on '64's...many folks, though they could use such a hood, would not buy it. Needing a hood... as the cost of a near perfect used '64 GTO hood is nowhere near that of even a fixer '69 T/A hood, the option is out there to buy one... either find & buy a good used hood, or buy a rough project car that has a good hood on it & part the car out. The Parts Place in Chicago has them in their catalog. When I inquired, they told me to ask them again in about 2 months. Apparently they're in the works at some level or another. Can you confirm this, Chris?
