I am 19, own a 1970 FOrmula 400, and I want to build it up to have some Balls on the street as well as the track. I just made this set up like in 2 mins, Is it fair for what I want? I want a daily driver, ro semi-daily driver, with Fair to good MPG.

Hooker Super Compition Headers
Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold
Holley 760cfm 4bbl double pumper
JE Pistons and rings
MSD ignition system
Comp Cam.290 cam&lifters (full hydraulic roller)
3,000 stall converter
3.73 or 3.90 for the posi it has in it now
3 inch exhaust dumped before axle
2 Chambered Flowmasters
Q-Tech electric exhaust cut outs
Light port and polish job on Heads and intake
B&M Transpack for TH350
Hurst Dual Gate Shifter

ok, the motor is a YS code 400, and TH350 transmission.

Now, what kind of performance gain would I be looking at? what might I run in the quarter? And what should I drop or swap on the set up?

Are you looking at boring the engine?
What heads are you going to use?
What are the specs on your cam?
With a 3000 stall conv. and a 3:90 rear forget about gas milage.

I do not want to bore or stroke the motor.
I want to run on stock heads, non RA 70 heads.

And would 3.73 be just a little better then 3.90's?

If you really want a daily driver and are worried about gas mileage, I would go with some 3:42s or 3:23s. Also that performer intake isn't much better than your stock one besides being lighter so I would try a Performer RPM.

And the Super Comps sit pretty low on 2nd Gens and if your roads are like some of the ones here in Vegas they will get beat up pretty good. Mine got killed. I would try some of the new Tri-Y headers for more clearance. Otherwise if you not worried about clearance the super-comps will work great...if you can get them installed.

Why the cut outs? With a 3" exh. dumping them where you are save your money for some other go fast goodie, ya don't need them. If you only want a daily driver with a little bit of snot use TRW pistons. They will be cheaper then the JE's. With 3:42 gears an 068 cam would give you plenty of low end grunt. This way you will be able to keep your stock parts on your valve train.

Dump the Performer. RPM or Torker II will make much more power, across the range. Instead of using the old Magnum cam, use the XR288HR, or for even MORE, XR294HR (not listed in the catelog, but available).
If you're really going to shell out for JE pistons, BORE IT! And be sure to use a deck plate when finish-honing. If your shop doesn't have a Pontiac deck plate, borrow one, or ask them to invest in the future and buy one. It really does make a difference.
With a 3,000 converter, go with the 3.90 gears. That little TH350 won't last very long behind a 500 horse 400. You might consider upgrading to TH400. Yes, it uses a bit more power (parasitic drag), but it also shifts much better, and the shift applications are unique among automatics, making it among the best street/strip transmissions. And it doesn't have an "anti-clunk spring"... (that nomenclature always worried me!)

turbo 350 are not as week as people like to believe. My close friend runs a STOCK th350 in his 3600# trans am and has been running low 11's and high 10's for the past few years. He has never blown it up and the car 60fts in the low 1.5's. He has blown the motor once and even the rear end (ford 9 inch, mini spool broke)and bent an axle, but not the tranny!

Well I cannot get torkerII or RPM intake because I wanna close the hood, they will not fit under there. Would a good 2.5K stall and 3.73's work good for the TH350?

Also, camshaft. The Ram Air IV... would that be a good pick? Could someone send me some links to camshaft kits that I can use?
