My car does not like me. That is besides the point tho. Everytime I go to start the car it doesnt crank over very easy. Its no high compresstion motor, its a 350 with 16's on it. Iam using a CVR mini starter, optima battery mounted in the trunk, 0-2 welding wire from the starter to the battery, two 0-2 grounds, the correct painless wiring realy to turn the alternator feed off when the kill switch is turned off, and a painless wiring ingition booster relay (it is suppose to give you more cranking power on start up). Im wondering if it is that alternator, Iam running dual electric camaro fans on a stock alt. Is it that the alt is just not putting out enough amps with the fans on? On when I go to start the car (with the fans off) its will slowly turn for a bit then it might start up. If I hook some jumper cables up to it, it will usually start right up.
I need to get off my lazy butt and get my car back to the track......

The description of your wiring sounds good, Perhaps, as you say, the alternator may not be charging your battery enuf such that it is in a state of discharge when you shut it down. Check your battery voltage while running, especially at idle. It should be about 14 volts. Below 13 and dropping means you are not charging and the battery is being drained. Make sure your belt is tight also.
Regards, George

Check your cranking volts at the starter. If your not getting enough juice to the starter, check all your connections, especially the ground. Is it connected directly to the engine, or are you running a gound to the chassis, and a strap to the engine? This can cause a low voltage condition at the starter.

has atleast three ground straps. The battery to the frame, the engine to the frame, and the engine to the body.

Have you tried grounding from the battery straight to the engine? The stock GM setup has the battery neg terminal directly to the block/head, and that is how your new setup should go too. I know it will be another long cable, but your problem should go away.

I had the same problem with my race car. I have the CVR Mini starter and the Optima battery in the trunk, after a year of frustration I added another battery, Now it starts perfect, even when it is hot. Rig two batteries up in the trunk and see if it fixes it, It's worth the try.

Had a similar problem with my 67 gto. although my battery was not in the trunk it did the same as yours. Was slow crankin especially when hot. Turns out it wasn't putting out enough amps. I put a 1000 amp battery in it and have yet to have a problem.
