I found a 66 tempest alcohol, tobaco, and firearms chase car. It has a 421 in it, HO or SD. My ? is was this a factory built car, or was it a dealer install, and would they use a 66 421 @ 375 horse, or a 62-63 @ 405 horse, I have no block #'s as of yet, but it looks all to be factory. Does anyone have any knowledege of what they did back then, I was only 1,
Thanks

My guess would be that the car was built with a 326 and heavy duty suspension, and had a then current 421 transplanted into it by a dealer or contract shop. Sort of like Yenko did with the very early 427 sYc Camaros, before he went the COPO route.

PHS paperwork would reveal how the car was ordered, but not necessarily how it was delivered to the customer.
